imagine the best case scenario.

the watchtower society implodes from within even making final printed admissions that it is voluntarily dismantling it's mission and legally dissolving the corporations.

I'll join the "I TOLD YOU SO, YOU MORONS" group, along with a loud "You should have known as demonstrated throughout my life that I only ever commit to something wholeheartedly when I am a million per cent sure I am right and can prove it with hard undisputable evidence, you morons".

But yes, I can actually see the die-hard ones forming their own little 'persecuted group of true witnesses' and waiting with psychotically gleaming eyes for the end which of course would be SOOOOO much more imminent (this group would include my parents and possibly all my siblings, unfortunately).

hah I'm actually glad this came out - it might make my dad's eyes open just a flicker. He has always had issues with them changing the generation doctrine, and has written in to Bethel several times on the matter.

He's one of the 'waiting on Jehovah' class, he prefers to ignore everything that doesn't make sense and just hope it gets changed to something more suitable someday.

He is hoping desperately for armageddon and the paradise though, as he's getting old and has had a few health scares/almost dying issues lately.

Maybe it will kick him into realising that he is going to actually die? Or else he'll just swallow it along with the rest of them. I hope not.

List of Prominent JW Urban Legends...

hey folks,.

i'm wondering if you all could help me with my next video that i want to put up in the next couple of days (though i'm hoping for tonight), i want to come up with a list of the most prominent urban legends surrounding jws and then refute them whatever they may be.. i'm thinking there's the urban legend about the question on jeopardy that said the nwt was the most accurate would be a good one.

that one stems from an online powerpoint presentation named theological jeopardy and a book which was written comparing six different translations of the bible.

"Plus I heard this story a few times: a Witness on holiday goes for a haircut (or some other place where to receive a service). Getting into conversation during the haircut the Witness starts talking about their beliefs. Suddenly the hairdresser becomes very distant, and starts acting strangely. As the Witness leaves the shop the hairdresser says in a demonic voice: "your God killed our children in the flood, and we will see that your children are killed at Armageddon." This is explained as a demon saying that because the children of demons, the nephilim, died in the flood of Noah's day, demons are trying their hardest to get Witness children out of the truth so that they will die at Armageddon. Some Witnesses have got vivid imaginations is all I can say. Did anyone else hear variations on that wacky story" by Slimboyfat

oh yeah - my dad tried using that urban legend to scare me from leaving. Here's his version:

"Satan will do all he can to make us fail. Like one person who was involved in spiritism said to one of our brothers that the spirits he was in contact with said that Jehovah did make them lose their kids in the flood (Nephelim) and they would make sure that we would lose as many kids as possible when Armageddon comes. Please don’t fall into their trap"

Pffft I smelt that poo a mile away. Problem is, they actually believe this themselves after hearing it from others.

He also tried the 'so-and-so wanted to taste the world and it turned out horrible, his/her life is now ruined' trick too...

"For example only a few months ago we did disfellowship a young sister for immorality. It was very sad, but she felt that she wanted to taste the world first since having been brought up in the Truth she never knew what is was that she had missed out on. I told her that she would end up with a lot of problems which she would find hard to cope with in the near future. Well on Wednesday she turned up at the meeting and obviously pregnant. She looked about 10 years older and had big blue circles under her eyes. Sadly though she has lost her nice clean youthful look and will pay for it with having a baby without a husband and some nasty skeletons in the closet. Really the world only can offer you what appears fun but in the long run the consequences are dissasterus."

I've heard the sister with angels ones, the shooting one and a bunch of others through the years. Pile of poo the lot of them.

Since Leaving The "Truth" Is Your Life Better?

you are told that if you "go back to the vomit" of the world, you will be miserable.. is your life better or worse since you've removed yourself from the organization's hold?.

Well, I'm still dealing with fanatical JW family, who thankfully live a long way away in another state. And my husband is still in which is limiting my ability to have a rad tree this xmas and start actually trying to celebrate stuff.

But, I do feel so much better about myself. I don't have to worry about going to the meetings and witnessing which I hated. I can watch whatever the hell I want on TV and not feel like I should be watching my back and worrying about being caught.

I don't have the urge to drink myself stupid to get away from it all. I am making friends at work and being a lot nicer to strangers!

I am looking forward to my overseas holiday in January and not worried about being found out for doing anything 'bad'. I am also looking forward to getting some ink next year, which is a big thing for me, I LOVE tattoos.

So yes, my life is better and is also continuing to get better. I haven't gone back to any vomit. lol

Wouldn't this only apply to those baptized pre-1985 though, since they changed the baptism questions and took out the holy spirit? So all of us baptized post-1985 are only sinning against the organization, not the holy spirit (although this may be seen as the greater sin? 0_o)

The first article in the March 2010 Study Watchtower is entitled "Baptized in the Name of Whom and What?". http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/w_f-st_E_20100315.pdf

It talks about being baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Again, wouldn't this only technically apply to those baptised pre-1985?

February 2010 Study Watchtower - Millions Now Living 'May' Never Die

just noticed that in the february 2010 study edition of the watchtower, they refer to the "millions now living will never die" talk in 1918, but they have changed the title to "millions now living may never die".

only problem, they included the picture of the invitation to the talk, which says 'will'.. ooops.

it's on page 16. enjoy.. .

they started this after the 75 and 2000 failure.

Apparently it's imminent - just as imminent as it was in the early/mid 90s (I was never going to finish primary school apparently), just as imminent as it was in 1999 (oh no *gasp* the year 2000), even more imminent that it was after 9-11 (which my family were convinced was the beginning of the big A).

Next they'll say it's coming in 2012, no wait, surely before 2015, definitely by 2020, the world can't keep going until 2025! 2030! 2040! 2050! 2060! 2075!!!!!!!!! Sell your houses, buy tinned food!!! lol

Salvation Army - JW's don't donate, but would they accept help

i just did a quick search on the wt cd and confirmed that that jehovah doesn't approve the salvation army.

but would a jw accept help from them just like they will accept help from the red cross?.

btw, clyde has been asked to do a little bell ringing.

My mother would always buy clothing from Salvation Army, literally hundreds of dollars at a time, but refuses to donate money or clothing to them.

Apparently donating clothing/money to them is supporting them and their wicked sinful false religion work. But buying from the shop is ok because it's spending money and getting stuff in return.

For want of a better phrase: FACEPALM.

Personally I always give clothes, furniture and whitegoods to them. If I can't use it, I know there's someone else who can.

A Sister and a Brother alone

i've been looking in the watchtower library all morning and can't find anything.. i know that jws have this rule (is it unwritten??

) where a brother and a sister should not be left alone in a car, a house, or any private place.

but my jw father says it's not so, and he spent a part of yesterday installing a computer program at a jw couple's house while the man was at work and the wife was at home.

Yeah I hated this one. What was I going to do? Get it on with old people? Puke.

Even recently-ish, when I was faded but still pretending to be in - my dad was in hospital in a small outback Aussie town, on his own, with only me to stay with him. We get in contact with a jw couple there who my parents have known for years, it is suggested that I stay with them as it would have been extremely unsafe for a female on her own to try to stay in any hotel.

I don't freak out quite so much because I think I have a place to stay. Then the guy rocks up, and I get told later (not by him, by my siblings that were only there for a couple of hours) that I can't stay with them because his wife isn't there for a couple of nights! ARGH.

Lucky for me the lovely nurses let me stay in a room in the ICU that is reserved for families of people brought in at night.

It was loud and I got people opening the door at all hours of the night, but I got a bed and I got fed. I love non-jws!!!!!!!
